In Amos 8:11,

“The time is coming’, says the Lord God, ‘That I will send a famine on the land. Not a famine for bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord”.

Reading Ezekiel 47, God was showing Ezekiel how the Word of God will flow from Him to the ends of the earth. Everywhere He is seeking true worshippers; those who are desperate for Him.

In Ezekiel 47:8-12 God is saying that; His Spirit will throughout the entire earth seek out all individuals who are hungering and thirsting after righteousness. Individuals who are desperate to be cleansed from the polluted religion and beliefs will be cleansed and grow as trees planted by the rivers of water whose roots will grow deep into a deep relationship with the True God.

Even though the entire earth seeks to know the true God – Yahweh, not all will accept Him. Ezekiel 47:11 However, its mud flats and marshes will not become fresh but will remain salty”. (Complete Jewish Bible)

Ezekiel 47:11 “But its swamps and marshes will not be healed; they will be given over to salt”. New King James. ‘Given over to salt’ – Indicating that not everyone will accept the Word of God. Although salt is a natural preserver, symbolically here it has a negative meaning.

There is nothing in this world that satisfies the soul, except Yeshua – Jesus who died on the cross for our sins. John 6:35 states “And Jesus said to them, I am the bread of life. He who comes to me shall never hunger, and He who believes in me shall never thirst”. Matthew 5:6 “Blessed are those who hunger after righteousness, for they shall be filled”. People in every religion, culture, and nation are desperate for true peace that can only come from Yeshua – Jesus who died on the cross; healing of body, mind, and soul; true forgiveness of sins, and belonging to the Creator.

When you are desperate for the Word of God, you will never be ashamed of the gospel of Christ. Psalm 37:19 “They shall not be ashamed in the evil time, and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied”.
